2 Foot Soaks To Help Soothe Inflammation Caused By Plantar Fasciitis

Posted on

Plantar fasciitis commonly flares up when too much pressure is placed on the ligaments in your feet and heels. This issue is frequently experienced by people who stand or run for long periods of time. In addition, if you are overweight, then you may also experience plantar fasciitis. The hardest part of dealing with plantar fasciitis is the pain. The inflammation in your ligaments causes your heel to feel like it is constantly in pain. Plantar fasciitis can usually resolve itself with an extended period of rest. However, this can take some time. Luckily, there are a few foot soaks that you can use in the meantime in order to soothe the inflammation.

Grindelia Foot Soak

Grindelia is a beautiful garden flower that is typically used in ointments and salves in order to treat issues with the skin. The flower contains anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. You can create your own foot soak using the flower in order to soothe the inflammation in your heels. Start by placing two cups of dried grindelia in a large pot of water. Set the pot on the stove on high heat until it boils. Allow the flowers to soak overnight and in the morning fill a large bucket half way with hot water. Fill the rest of the bucket with the grindelia mix. Place your feet in the bucket and allow your feet to soak for at least an hour. Perform this routine the morning and night in order to reduce your inflammation.

Oat Fook Soak

Oats are considered to be a go-to natural remedy for treating external conditions. Oats contain anti-inflammatories that help to soothe irritation and pain. A simple oat foot soak can be created by placing several cups of oats on the stove to boil. Once it boils, remove the pot and wait for it to cool. In the meantime, fill a large bucket half way with warm water and add five drops of chamomile oil in the bucket. Use your oat mixture to fill up the remaining space in the bucket. Place your feet in the mixture and allow them to soak for at least thirty minutes. Use the oat mixture before bed in order to get the best results.

The inflammation caused by plantar fasciitis can keep you off of your feet for days or even weeks. For more information, contact Collier Podiatry PA or a similar location.
